Title: S-Max / Galaxy Pollen Filter Screws / uts Part numbers
Post by: Dupes on August 13, 2021, 12:53:18 PM
Hi All

Anyone know, or can point me to where I can find, the part nubers for these screws and 'nuts' please

I saw and follwed an excellent library post on changing the cabin filter on my S_Max (same process as Galaxy).https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/mk3-ford-galaxy-smax-common-faults-and-problems/galaxy-removal-and-changing-of-pollen-filter-(mk3)/msg3012/#msg3012

However, my car was missing both of the 'Lower Trim Retaining Nuts' shown on the tutorial pictures ( they hold up the soft trim under the fuse box in the passenger footwell - RHD)...
..and also only had one screw on the pollen filter cover, not 3 or 4 (there are 4 holes, but seems it should have 3 screws?)

I would like to get the screws and clips/nuts to keep the panel up properly.

Many thanks

Not sure, maybe just call Fords or a breakers yard?

Those plastic nuts probably just go on to a 6mm stud so look on eBay for some m6 plastic nuts.

The screws will just be same as plastic trim screws around 4mm

Alternatively if you can find the part number ( http://catcar.info/ford/?lang=en may help there) then searching ebay might come up with the right part as well. Sometimes this will at least give you a description to work with if nothing else.

What a useful website!

Thank you for sharing it with us all Brian!

Thanks All

I studied that linked website - went all though it, found the pollen cover, but it does not list the securing screws! Found several similar options for other models.
Could not see the 'nuts' anywhere - again I evetually founf the 'pad' they retain, but nothing on the diag for the fixings!

WORD OF WARNING though - I clicked on one of the parts and it tred to open a website that Norton blocked as a known malicious site. So while useful, suggest not going beyond looking at the diagrams!

There are other sites I found with the same diagrams though as well.

The 'Nuts' btw, are I believe (from a video tutorial) like plastic push on clips, not really 'nuts'.

But as SirDavid suggested, probably best to try and find a breakser where they let you in to scavenge the cars.

Thanks again.

Now just to find out if its ok/worth putting DOT5.1 brake fluid in, as unusually the manual very clearly stipulates DOT4 (most other makes list either IME)

Can you guess...I am new to Ford cars - even though I used to work for them many moons ago!

SO, after many hours research... In case it helps anyone else...

The 'Nuts' are the retainers for the pad under the fuse box - Just called a 'Fastener' Part number 1310861.
Come in Black, though some cars had yellow ones.
They go over the other 'Bolt' part of the fastener, Part number 1310861.

I found a great thread on another forum with pictures etc - not sure If I am allowed to post a link to that - but google 'Footwell Carpet Drops down' should bring it up - (hope ok to help peeps by stating this on here - all for greater good!).
Seems a really common problem TBH on Mondeo, Focus, Galaxy, S-Max - they get lost as service, pr maybe not put back and vacuumed up!

The pollen cover screws I THINK (not 100%) are part 1231393 - a course thread M5 x 16mm bolt with a 7mm hex head (black or silver)

I should have used this link, not the previous one posted
https://ford.7zap.com/en/car/

I think i found the same thing with Catcat as you now you mention it.

7zap lets you enter a vin number as well to help identify parts specific to your vehicle rather than the whole production run.

Thanks @brianh yes I found the 7zap and indeed a very useful site - also from your VIN gives you the exact build of your car, and where and month built!

When I was looking for thw same for my Mundano, the Ford price literally made me gasp - and that was just for the plastic doohickey.  I wouldn't even consider buying a simple 6mm machine screw from a main dealer.  Any half-decent fixings shop will sell you 50 for the price of one from the m d.  Plus you can choose your own type of head for ease of removal.  I went for pozidrive.

I did order th parts - Dominic 9I think) at Elkins Ford was supposed to call me back today - didn't!
But the screws were 26p each and the plastic nut 81p each (+VAT of course) - so I figured for a few quid...

Annoyed though at Elkins Westbury, Wilts not calling back... grrrr not a great first experience of main dealer service.

That?s strange of Elkins in my experience, used them a few times for work van and they have usually been very helpful there being a small dealer,so much different to Ford in trowvegas
