hi guys :) over the past few weeks ive been getting this weird fault where if you try and accelerate some times it wont........... ??? however if the engine is turned off and restarted it runs fine till it does it a week or so down the line.any ideas guys? a sensor maybe?
might be the maf??????????????
Sounds like limp home mode to me...
Sometimes... as in during the same journey or sometimes as in one journey?
i take it thats guna be a expensive part to replace? also here abouts it it? 8)
during the journey. ???used the car to make quick journey yesterday........ 40 minutes there and back.went to pull out from a slip road on to the motor way and there was just no acceleration.once the car had been stopped and restarted it drove home fine. :o
Sounds like classic limp home mode; I would suggest as a result of sticking turbo vanes since its during heavy acceleration
not questioning mirez 1 bit he is normally right but just a thought when was the last time you gave it an Italian tune up?might just need a good clear out.
i had something very similar on my old mk2 never did get to the bottom of it as it was sporadic.but seemed to behave itself once i gave it a good thrashing.
You are backing me up mate not questioning, you just dont know it lol! An italian tune up will fully exercise the vanes, if they aren't severely coaked then this might be all thats needed! ;)
phew ::)
so it might just need a good thrashng down the motor way? i never kane it though the gears as its not my style of driving but if thats what it needs i guess once in a while wont hurt will it? would injector cleaner help? thought of buying some to see if it made a difference? cheers guys. :)
see what the thrash does first,especially if you drive your car like 'MISS DAISY' ;) any car needs a bit of throttle once in a while to clear the cobwebs.
try and do it when its empty behind you just in case you blot them out, :)
cheers guys. :) dont drive like miss daisy but have 3 small children so dont drive dangerously as i have them in the car most of the time. i,ll give it a blast out and see what it does. ;D
Hi! I've got the exact same problem on my TDI auto. Are we talking a few miles at high revs or a 100 miles at illegal speeds :-) (I may need this answer in mitigation!)
lol, to exercise the turbo is what you're aiming for - so hard acceleration using the whole rev range (near the red line). The speed is irrelevant to be honest so keep legal but just holding the rev's high isn't enough as the turbo needs to be worked hence the acceleration :)
Thanks for the reply! First day on the forum already ordered a VCDS lead, realised I have an auxiliary heater I need to fix and have an understanding of an "Italian tune up" . Fantastic stuff!
