First post on this forum and hope to be a regular visitor.
My parking sensors seem to have developed a problem that I need advice on.
When the ignition is turned on they emit a constant beep then goes dead. Previously they emitted a series of beeps before settling down then worked as normal when near objects.
However, now they don't recognise any objects and I don't know what actions are best to take.
Can anybody advise my next course of action?
Many thanks in advance.
Good morning Alfred, welcome to this lovely forum and I hope you make many good friends here as I have done also over the years.
In terms of your sensors, by way of remarkable coincidence I have the same fault too.
It sounds like a knackered sensor so I would buy a VCDS cable from ebays for around Ã,£7 and a new sensor for the same price. VCDS will tell you whatââ,¬â,,¢s wrong, and assuming itââ,¬â,,¢s one of the sensors, simply switch it over for the new one. If the fault is something else then it may be a bit more complicated, but thatââ,¬â,,¢s the course of action I for one would take.
Also sometimes giving them a good clean and a bit of a gentle bashing can help. But Iââ,¬â,,¢d wager itââ,¬â,,¢s a duff sensor.

As itââ,¬â,,¢s a mark3 get yourself forscan and a lead to scan the PDC and see what errors come up. Most likely a failed sensor or wiring issue, but fault codes will point you in the area to look.
Forscan definitely the way to go - https://forscan.org/ for the software, just need a suitable cable (details on the site of suitable cables)
Ah yes, forscan is for the fords, vcds is for the alhamb only I think (or maybe the sharan too)
Its not that simple!. Forscan is for the MK3 which isn't anything like the mk2. Forscan works for some aspects of the mk2 Fords, but VCDS is used for the majority of the systems on the mk2 Fords which the exeception of the 2.0/2.3 engine (which any normal obd tool will work for, or Forscan, but not VCDS).
Further complicated by the mk2 ending in 2006 for Ford, but 2010 for Seat/VW.
Seat and VW both use vcds petrol or diesel. And the v6 of any badge is all VCDS except for the PATS system on the Ford.
Hehe, how do you know all this stuff!!! 8-)
