I've just bought a MK 3 Seat Alhambra CR and wondered what aux heaters they use? Do they have a similar Eberspächer booster heater to the Mk2 which can be troublesome? If so can they be manually controlled to prevent stop start damage? Where are they fitted on the cars? Shame the mk3 doesn't have the heated front screen like my MK2.

VAG cars for the UK market generally don't come with proper aux heaters anymore, you'll likely have an electrical heating element instead that warms the coolant however its purpose will be purely for comfort rather then function. From stone cold set the heater to full heat and within a few seconds it should blow luke warm air out although there is normally an 'ambient' requirement.
Some EU countries do still get the aux heater, mainly the nordic ones and you can tell by the presence of the manual control within the climate panel (left button from centre dial):

We had a 64 reg Sharan Motability car a few years and that had a booster heater mounted behind the engine drivers side, the little exhaust came out by the drivers side wheel arch liner.
Was a Webasto heater, worked the same as the MK2 Galaxy's

Thanks for the advice. I've Just reset mine on VAG.com on the MK2 as selling it today sadly. Will have a look under the bonnet and in the wheel arch for the tell tale signs on the Alhambra.
