So today I did the school run, after a few minutes I noticed the battery light was on.
Revved the hell out of it, made no difference.
So I stopped, turned it off. Restarted, no light. Drove a few minutes, it came back on.
Dropped off at school, left it off for around 10 minutes. Heading home, it came on again.
Before I test the battery voltage etc, is this a common fault?
I assume if the battery is up to charge, the itââ,¬â,,¢ll be alternator issue?
Is it worth plugging it in, to look for fault codes?
Sounds like the alternator to me, put a voltmeter across the battery and see what its showing. Alternatively if you can get to the alternator give it a firm tap and see if it goes off. If it does, likely cause is worn out alternator.
Ok so the Auxiliary belt has disappeared. ???
I guess it's on constantly now then?
Before you stick a belt on check all pulleys run smooth and a running true, tensioner isnââ,¬â,,¢t seized. Also check the crank pulley isnââ,¬â,,¢t started to seperate.
Looks to me like the alternator isnââ,¬â,,¢t working, just replace the six belt and it should be fine again. 2 min job but donââ,¬â,,¢t forget to replace any tensioner sun case they have seized up

I reckon you could be right there that alternator isnââ,¬â,,¢t working, the missing belt kind of gives that away😉
Belt on!! All good!! No seized pulleys. Had to get RAC to fit it, got it to Euros, didnââ,¬â,,¢t have a spanner long enough to release the tensioner. Guy said the belt look ancient.
Impressive that you got the RAC to fit it!
Usually all they do in my experience is send a 3rd party tow truck out and ask you which garage you want it taken to, usually after a very long wait.
Sort of like a ââ,¬Å"tow truck insurance policyââ,¬Â.
