Hello,I posses a VW Sharan with 2.0 TDI Engine from 2005.
These are the problems with my car :
1. Right Blinkers : Everytime I try to indicate right the lights click rapidly and then stay turned on. This also happens when I close the car from the key. The Right Lights stay on. You can also hear the relay clicking rapidly, then stopping, then clicking again. First,I thought the problem was the Indicator Hazards relay that is on the Fuse Box. I ordered it from Ebay but it has yet to come to me to replace it. (https://ibb.co/wh8GkH5).
2. Battery Drainage. If I dont use the battery for 2,3 days,it goes dead. Not being able to start the car.
This Evening,I put the tester on it and found these Error Codes :
00966 - Direction Fuse-S151
00989 - Consumer Shutdown Fuse-S153
00969 - Right direction indicators ,wich says Short circuit to positive.
01179 - Incorrect key programming ,this is because my mother had trouble with the keys and went to a auto-service where,I dont know what they did with the car but, gave her another key fob,and the car only respons from the new key fob now.
I would also like to mention that I verified the fuses for the Consumer Shutdown and the Hazards fuse, both of them were not broken. But the tester says at both of them that they are faulty.
Thank you very much for your time,I hope you can offer some help,The car is un-usuable at this point.
Hey Gicu and welcome to FordMPV.
That sounds like the old broken door wires to me, VERY common and can often give the symptoms you describe. A 2005 should have the side repeaters in the door mirrors so the wiring for the indicator circuit will pass through the drivers and passenger door looms, given the issue is with the drivers side I would say that's almost certainly your problem. Have a look in the knowledge base (links up top) as its covered there in great detail.
As above, don't rule out the boot door wiring though I'd start with the righthand front door first. May be best to go round them all and check. Its likely all your symptoms are all caused by the same fault inc the key programming.
There is some instructions on key programming here assuming its the buttons function your after, though it may be that your original keyfob is dead anyway. If the key won't start the car, then its likely missing the immobiliser chip (might be an indication that they swapped the chip from old to new key). I think you'd need either 2 working keys or maybe VCDS to program an extra chip in on the VW models like yours if its the immoliliser thats the problem.
The indicator problem is something I had a few years ago, the problem was the flasher unit. unfortunately they don't just unplug, they are soldered to the GEM board which is inside the black box that holds the fuses behind the pull down flap.
The box can be unplugged and removed from the car then dismantle the box to reveal the large circuit board, below is a link to show you a new relay.

Am sorry I don't have the pictures of doing the job.
You need to be very patient and allow plenty of time to do the job, the circuit board is quite fragile and because you need to unsolder the old relay from the board without damaging the printed circuit.
If your good with soldering small items you should be OK
YOU MUST get yourself a wick (if you don't have one) to draw off the solder from the old pins so the old relay comes away cleanly, a word of warning the board has circuits on both sides of the board and there are one or two pins that are soldered to the same side as the relay as I found out after tearing the circuit.
Thank you very much for your response. That was my first idea also, thats why I already ordered that Flasher Relay from Ebay. I will go to an electrician to see if he can do it.
Do you have any idea about the parasitic power draw ? Could that fuse be faulty even if not broken ? I am switching them out today, both the hazards fuse and the consumer shutdown fuse.
Thank you all for your time and your responses.
The parasitic power draw I'd suspect is either broken wires in the door gaiter, or maybe down to a melted battery fuse box.
Whilst it's possible the relay is your issue, I'd check the wires first as they are known to be a problem area.
