Title: Debate Club
Post by: SirDavidAlhambra on January 17, 2021, 04:41:48 PM
My friend says his Mercedes Viano is better than the President Oââ,¬â,,¢Bama because it is bigger. But I say every merc I see on the roads is usually a rust bucket. What says the intellectuals of this group with regard to an even handed assessment of the merits of both vehicles.

I agree Mercedes do tend to have rust issues cosmetically something older generation ones didnââ,¬â,,¢t suffer with as they were built like tanks. They donââ,¬â,,¢t however tend to suffer with structural rust for some reason.
Where as the galaxy,Alhambra, sharan can and does.

I donââ,¬â,,¢t own a galaxy anymore and have never owned a viano but if I was to make a choice to purchase either it would have to be the merc, they have more powerful engines and the sliding doors would also be a plus for me.

It does also depend what you use them for. A Viano (or pretty much any other full size van) would be useless to me as I tend to end up needing to park in multistory carparks, some of which are tight even with the Galaxy. Height restrictions in some mean you'd never get in with a van.

I'd suspect adults would find the seats in the back of the Galaxy a bit on the small size, though I've never sat in mine to tell for sure (lack of headroom/legroom I'd suspect to be the case there). And the lack of a proper boot with all the seats might be a bit annoying, whereas I'd suspect the Merc could manage better in that aspect.

Yes, good point, the rear seats are good for people up to about 5ft 8ins Iââ,¬â,,¢d say. I sat in the back once and it wasnââ,¬â,,¢t really usable for me, I had to sort of put my weight on one leg and tilt my head to the side. But Iââ,¬â,,¢m quite tall and I think for most people it would be ok. I find the boot space in the Alhamb fine but also have a roof box for holiday trips and so on. Itââ,¬â,,¢s a shame they couldnââ,¬â,,¢t just put another 2 inches of headroom in the rear, it would have made a big difference! Then again every Merc I see tends to look like the bottom of a Russian tugboat, Iââ,¬â,,¢m just very surprised that a supposedly premium brand vehicle would rust faster than a garden gate
