Hello everyone. Recently bought Mk1 Sharan for work and it seems like it was looked after all its life but latest timing belt change sticker are ripped off so I'm not sure when it was changed last.
Bought Gates Timing Belt kit with water pump and gates thermostat. My question is should I change thermostat as well when doing timing belt with the pump even though I do not have any overheating issues ? (Garage gonna do all the work actually). Is the coolant usually replaced when changing water pump and thermostat ?
If pump is being changed coolant is drained down as part of it so gets replaced, makes sense to do thermostat at same time if you have a new one anyway
One more question which is not related to coolant.
Bought some engine oil for the service (TRIPLE QX 5W-40 PD) which meets specs for my Sharan but I don't think my engine is a PD engine. Will the oil still be good for my car or should I order something else ?
The 115 AUY engine is definitely a PD (Pump Düse)
As above auy definitely a PD lump, plus I also think the pd
Oil can be used in the other vag engines of the era anyway?
