To facilitate remove, remove the two screws in the cabin holding the release lever to the trim and let the lever hang. This will allow the release cable to move more freely at the other end:

To remove the catch, simply unbolt it from the slam panel:

Next, you need to disconnect the cable from the cabin. To do this the cabin cable needs to come out in the direction of the green arrow - disconnect the cable's plastic mount and slide it out.

Detach the front grill release lever:

With the assembly now on the bench it can be inspected and maintained. In this example the pivot point (Red arrow) had seized and required lubrication to free it off. Note the catch assembly is subject to weather most of the time so should be assembled with grease instead of oil when rebuilding.
