ive got a fault code telling me there is a fault with the front left abs speed sensor.
when the diagnostics refer to left from which perspective is this and where exactly is it located?
any ideas?
The ABS sensors are located in the wheel hubs they are held in with a single bolt, removal can be problematic as the plastic body of the sensor gets rusted into the hub so to remove you may have to drill out (completely destroy) the old sensor.
Before you try removing sensor check the sensor cable and connector.
Should be passenger side as the left/right refers to the position from the drivers seat.
i had the exact same problem today and had it fixed by a local garage - i thought id have to shell out a load of money on a new sensor buy it was a cracked ring instead which i'm told are quite cheaply available second hand (25 quid mine was)) i'd advise looking at this first before smashing out the old sensor. Mine was also the front left - passenger side.
What's the best way to drill the old ones out? Last time I used a small hss bit but it took ages, and broke a couple off in the sensor before I got it out. Replacement sensors can be had for under Ã,£20 on ebay. Reductor rings are available too I think.
