Title: Bonnet release handle help
Post by: Stevie t on November 25, 2019, 03:02:45 PM
Hi all,Ok,so went to change headlight bulb pulled the release handle and lo and behold the cable came out of the handle.Nothing seems broken but am a bit unsure how the cable is located.Theres a sort of captive nut on the outer cable but I cant decide where it locates on the handle. Is it supposed to go just outside or there's a slight recess in the handle should it go there. If I have it situated outside by it just slips out again.I can't see any other bits that may be missing, please see the pics.Just so frustrating when you do a small job and it turns to another, any suggs welcome, thanks.

The ball slides in handle and then captive part slides in to the other section. Might have to disconnect bonnet end to get the slack to refit it easily.

That's what I was wondering, sort of looks like the nut goes on the outside maybe call as there's a couple of scuff marks but not obviously like something broken off.

Below is how it's located on mine. If the cable keeps falling out when you try to clip the cable sleeve into the plastic holder on the lever then I reckon either a lug has busted or the cable sleeve holder on the lever has worn.
