Title: Engine fuse Box galaxy 2.8 v6 ghia
Post by: nkswinburne on February 23, 2013, 07:56:14 PM
I seem to have a problem with electrics cutting out when running, and when I try to start the car. all displays go blank like there is no power (same happens when driving), then it starts. Also resets trip computer ect. While looking for shorts ect I found this under the bonnet could this be the cause and where do the wires go? I have attached pics and any help would be greatly appreciated   :)

The top black wire goes to the alternator the next one down is the supply to the central junction box inside car .
Replace the fuse box and new crimp terminals but make sure you solder the terminals to prevent happening again.

Also I forgot to ask, would this be causing the intermittent loss of power to the electrics?

Originally the terminal crimps were not soldered to the lead then after a few years oxidation and a high resistance causes heat which in turn melts the plastic fuse box.
It's a common fault and causes all sorts of electrical problems.
