Title: Axle stand placement
Post by: Stevie t on September 05, 2019, 06:22:26 PM
Want to give my abs sensors a clean and don't want to rely on the normal Jack for obvious reasons.Wheres the best place to put an axle stand for the front.Obviously it won't be on the sill, but just inside from the jacking point mark there's a box section with a small round hole in it,would this be ok or is there somewhere better, thanks.

That box section is weak and will bend up, look a little further in and place it on the chassis rail (Where that box section joins onto)

The guy that does my tyres jacked the car up on the sills and crushed that little flange bit where the notch is :(

Sadly all too common, get him to pay for the repair as itll begin to rust if its crushed over.

If you are using a trolley jack lift off the subframe where rest of bottom arm bolts and as Mirez said stand under the chassis rail. When back in the floor protect the chassisââ,¬â,,¢s rail again as I found the axle stand removed some paint on the edge of the metal.
