Changed some brushes on an electric coolant pump from a bmw yesterday instead of using cotton to hold brushes like I did with my old galaxy I used a different method which worked better.
Fitted brushes and put a nut (anything right size will do) in the space where com fits to hold brushes back, dropped a touch of water on to the brushes and popped in the freezer for an hour. Once out freezer brushes were held by ice so I was able to assemble pump easy before ice thawed out and allowed brushes to move in contact with the com.
Heard a few people who have had success with that method, if I have to do it again I'll give it a go!
