My friend ran this car on chip fat, it worked fine but I think there was mega shit in the fuel. Have changed the filter but I still get power fade every now and then which must be fuel starvation. No bung in tank so thought of emptying it by disconnecting fuel line from filter and pumping tank empty before removing pump to clean out tank. The filter is shiny metal jobby with three connections. Which is the pressurised line from pump?
Is there a filter basked on the bottom of the pump?
The inlet is at back of filter the one that is direct to filter and not to the black thermostat valve.
Yes the in tank pump has got a filter on it aswell.
I expect the chip fat is breaking the engine and clogging stuff up. I would be inclined to stick to normal diesel from the petrol station
It actually ran very well on chip oil for several thousand miles thoughI haven't used it for a year or more., I am sure that the shit in the oil has accumulated hence the probs.
Yeah it will probably go for a bit then break down. Think of it like eating a diet of nothing but pure lard. Youââ,¬â,,¢ll probably be fine for the first week or two but it will soon catch up with u.
If you do get really stuck for getting whatever has built up in there out, you can gain access to the tank from under the 2nd row of seats, working from the drivers side of the car (you have to lift the carpet, but thats not actually very difficult). It might also help to try and dilute it with some diesel if you are trying to pump it out,
I'd suspect whats really done it is it sitting for a while, I've known old chip fryers left with oil in for extended periods unused to develop a skin on the top, though usually heating it up a bit helps with that, which is obviously quite easy with those.

It is highly likely that there has been fungal/bacterial growth in the tank. Not only the tank but all lines, including filler and return tubing, filter housings and possibly even injectors will need thoroughly cleaning. Even then, it may return even when real diesel fuel is used exclusively.
It runs perfectly most of the time, I am certain there is a wodge of crap in the tank so pump out and clean!
Personally I wouldnââ,¬â,,¢t pump fuel out I would just whip the pump/sender unit out and have a look in there first
Could the thing thatââ,¬â,,¢s jammed in there be a burnt chip or a bit of batter etc? If so it might eventually break up on its own?

It would need to have a fair amount of chip pieces or batter clogged around pump gauze to restrict flow.
Itââ,¬â,,¢s quite possible the gauze is blocked with other crap anyway,mine was run on derv but filter was filthy on pump assembly
There is a small sump like area in the tank where the pump sits, though I'm fairly sure from the petrol ones that there is a guaze guarding the area so it won't have sucked anything up into the pipe unless theres a hole in that, But there might be more gloopy crap thats enough to block flow up as said above, or contamination as said above. Best thing is to have a look and see.
I've seen what looked like sand coming out of the bottom of my mates Land rover's tank, mixed with bits of rust and stuff, so even pump diesel can introduce debris that shouldn't get there (though its also possible he has put it in there from a can of diesel not realising it had rubbish in it.
Could you try and splosh some diesel around in the tank, maybe go along a bumpy road, to try and wash away any gloopy deposits using proper diesel
There is no way for the contents of the tank to get out except by the pump and pipes. I an running the tank to zero and then taking pump out. I an certain it will be full of rubbish and I hope the opening is going to be big enough to get a hand in with kitchen roll etc.
Good idea, emptying it out and draining any sludge would be very satisfying.
