Could someone tell me how to change the battery in the remote locking key for a 2003 MK2 Ford Galaxy V6, and also how to set the key back up again. Thank you.
The batteries is fairly simple - look at the back of the key (the side without the buttons) it prises apart with a screwdriver, Once you have the fob part out of the blade, you can then gently prise the fob apart and remove BOTH batteries (the second one should be under a metal plate below the first one).
Make sure you don't lose the PATS chip - it should be stuck in place, but frequently is loose inside once the fob is removed. Best bet is to find a table to disassemble the key on with nothing too close so if it does drop out you don't lose it!
The original manual does have the instructions for changing the batteries with some photos I think
The second bit is detailed here > https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-common-faults-and-problems/ford-galaxy-remote-key-locking-programming-and-information-(mk2)/ But you probably won't need that if you can get the batteries swapped over quickly anyway.
Thanks very much for the information, I will try it next week when I get the correct 2016 batteries.
Cheers,Garth
If youââ,¬â,,¢re not technically minded, why not pop into Timpson or somewhere like that and Iââ,¬â,,¢m sure their friendly staff will be pleased to help
Thanks for the suggestion about Timpson, but 30 years man and boy in the Royal Navy as an electrical artificer, I will have a go at anything technical ;)
Excellent, thereââ,¬â,,¢s nothing quite like self sufficiency!
Do make sure you use the best batteries you can get... Duracell is worth paying the extra for! :)
