It's my first post so be gentle. I have done lots of searching in the forums for a checklist of common things to fault Do find my air con issue. Does a checklist exist? if not then I would like to put one together based on my research.
I have a 2006 Galaxy 1.9d 130 I am assuming it has a dual system as there are air vents in the back two rows of seats and has the electronic climate system. This leads me to assume I need my system gassed with the higher amount?
I would be keen to also check for error codes so what would be the best cheap/free tool, I have seen forscan, VCDS and vag-com mentioned.
My local garage has checked the system and regassed say there is no voltage at the compressor when there is a demand but the compressor does run fine when powered manually.
Any help with the checklist would be much appreciated.
Yes it takes the higher amount.
Vcds and a kkl lead will interrogate the controller, lite version is free but paid version gives more options.
As for the fault if there is no power to the clutch you are looking at relay, wiring or pressure switch issue in my opinion.

It would be the higher amount if it has the rear air-con - which it should do if you have roof vents.
However - there is anoter post on here, where the rear unit and pipework had been removed by a previous owner due to a leak - so its worth checking its actually connected and not been capped off at the front, as too high pressure will stop it trying to engage (which if the rear pipework has been capped it will be due to having too much charge in the system).
VAG-Com is just an older name for VCDS, Forscan will do the PATS system on the diesels (keys) but very little else as far as I know, its more useful on the petrol models.
Thanks for the replies so far. I have ordered a USB cable so will download VCDS and see what I can find as I have an intermittent parking sensor issue!
I will get the system gas rechecked at my local friendly garage.
