worried about cars test on Saturday in case there was any more welding on front outriggers needed.....came back needing an off side trackrod end !!
fixed it, re-tested and took it out for the day yesterday as it was a sunny day to find the aircon is hardly working.....
never a dull moment ?
At least hardly working suggests its leaking rather than broken!
Mines just had both front outriggers done prior to its MOT - We didn't think they were too bad until started to poke them and ended up with this prior to welding starting
Pop the cap off where drier cartridge lives on condenser, thatââ,¬â,,¢s a common leaking point on these cars. See if it is corroded and furry in there
exactly same as mine...I had no idea until tester showed me the tin rot ! grinding loads away then 10" square plate bent into u-shape and migged into place. lots of seam sealer but left water drain holes---unlike the manufacturer.
Tyre fitters managed to push their jack through my outriggers because they dont use the point where it meets the forad/aft section. Time after that they managed to put two ****great creases in the cill on either side. Your picture is interesting, rot being on the back. Both of mine were thinner on the bottom. Anybody understand why manufacturers don't put the jacking points where tyre fitters will place the jacks?
Don't know, though tyre fitters can be a lore into themselves anyway which doesn't help. Find a good one that knows what he or she is doing and your sorted, get a bodger and its the beginning of a string of problems.
The galaxy does seem to suffer from idiots jacking on the sills - a close look at a lot of them will show evidence of damage to them, I can understand it a bit better at the back, but I've always found the bit at the top edge of the T formed by the outrigger to be the best place to use (I don't jack on it further out as I've seen how flakey that bit can get). I'd suspect thats the same point you mean.
The worst ones are those who return the car to you with that plastic trim bit on the sills hanging off... all that mechanical knowledge and they donââ,¬â,,¢t even notice the little things like that
