Title: Ford Galaxy 2003 2 LITERS DOHC Not Starting affter changing flat Battery
Post by: cybacle on January 24, 2019, 01:02:44 PM
My Ford Galaxy 2003 with 2 liter DOHC  petrol engine could not start due to flat battery. the car was left for 3 days without starting it.  On the 3 day it could not start due to flat battery. the battery was was replaced it still could nor start. on checking we discovered  battery  was wrongly connected.  battery connection was corrected but car  could not start. Auto electrician was called in. Auto Electrician made some check and changed a blown fuse and concluded there is no reason why the car should not start and advice car should be scanned with Obd  tool. but  Obd tool could not link with car computer.
Please let some one advice on what could be done to star my car.

Does it turn over in starter or is it totally dead?

If ODB won't connect and it fails to start, I'd look at relay 30 being the likely cause. There is a 5 amp fuse for engine management that will cause the same sort of fault if its blown, its the one at the bottom righthand corner of the fusebox.

As asked above, what exactly does it do - not crank over, or crank over but not start?
Does the red light on the drivers door do anything? If its flashing how quickly does it flash?

Engine does not crank.
Red light by drivers door does not  flash but some times flashes once per second when activating central lock with car key from out side the car. but the flashing goes off by twigging of the key. car key is the straight Volkswagen type and does not use battery.

I missed a few words out - what does the led do when your trying to start? Rapid flashing indicates an immobiliser problem, which would point to relay 30 (search for it on here, you will find out enough info to fix it and locate it).

Lack of cranking is what i had when the one on my mk2 petrol went, that and it would cut out when driving. Resoldering the joints on the relay should fix it.
