Post by: asohotra on December 12, 2018, 11:02:59 AM
Fitted an aftermarket stereo Xtrons TD799GS in my 2004 Ford Galaxy Tdi 130 yesterday works fine except it wont keep memory when I turn the stereo off eg radio stations, settings, time and date. I have used the correct ISO adapter for the car but still I lose memory. Any ideas?

Swap the ignition live and perm live in the iso block. Common issue, lots of cars have them the wrong way round for aftermarket head units.

Saying that I fitted a Kenwood to the wife's Sharon and had to tap a perm live off the fusebox as there wasn't one in the iso block.....

most of the ones I've fitted now come with two leads with bullet connectors on the stereo - usually the red and yellow ones, You may need to swap them over so they don't match to correct the problem if they are fitted. Otherwise its a case of get the multimeter out and check the battery live is really live, a blown fuse will cause the same problem (possible if the connector came into contact with something metal when you had it unplugged or when removing/installing the new radio)

Many thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention one more thing the lights on the stereo don't light up so its hard to see any of the control buttons.

Did the xtrons come with iso plugs or just tails? The Chinese head units are usually pretty good for colour coding the wiring as per iso adaptors, illumination is usually orange iirc pull head unit out and see if itââ,¬â,,¢s connected up correctly.

Yes the stereo did come with its own ISO. Just had a look and one of the stereos plugs has 3 wires attached this does not match up with the cars own wiring which has 5 wires attached the orange wire which is a tail is not plugged in is one of those missing.

Connect the orange tail on stereo wiring to illumination on the car side wiring.

As for the memory swap perm live and ignition live wiring over as already suggested.
