hi everyone...... :Pi love my old mark 1 galaxy to bits and shes just failed her mot, now the cat is ratlting like a bugger so i was wondering would this lead to these results ohhh and wheni  went to get the cat replaced last week they told me i had a hole in my manifold it turned out not to be that and was a lose pipe?? ill show you a pic but thats what has broken off so i think between the cat  and this i am hoping it may be fixed what do you think?


oh and i did run out of petrol the night before the test lol clever i know lol

test results are

fast idle co 0.70% fail
second fast idle 1.04% fail
natural idle 1.85% fail  :o
everything else was passed on


a picture of the snapped hose is below can i ask does anyone know what this is? sorry computers are my thing not cars

Hi Michelle and welcome to the site!

The cat rattling is a sign its breaking up inside so would be doing very little to help emissions - it will probably pass with just that changed but you should get the pioe replaced anyway. It looks like the EGR recirc pipe but I dont know the 2.0 well enough to say for certain or if where it attaches can be replaced.
