Hi need help m.o.t failure out my 1.9tdi the guy wouldn't even test it as soon as he floored massive clouds of black smoke,if recently changed air filter oil and filter the car doesn't get many long runs, was wondering whether those additives help and a big blast in motorway ,would changing oil again help changed oil about 4 weeks ago mileage is 111k,2005 year
Italian tune up time, methinks. Works wonders, but make sure engine is warmed through first. Took my 172k tdi130 to Cumbria and back last weekend, which includes 3 hr run each way including half hour on M6..... it's like a sports car this week :)

Do you drive sedately? If so itââ,¬â,,¢s just exhaust full of soot get it nice and warm and give some good blasts through the Rev range or a blast down motorway a couple of gears lower than normal to keep rpm up.
Assuming you have no boost leaks that is?
As above, assuming your turbo is ok and thats not the cause of the smoke then a good, spirited, deive will clear the smoke out.
You can then cheat the PD engine really easily for its MoT, simply unplug the MAF. The car won't throw the management light but will drop into a very conservative power map so you should fast-pass every time....
