Hi all - would like your help. Rear washer not working. Pump is good and I can feel water pressure in hose under bonnet/engine bay up to drivers side bulkhead. After pulsing for a while, I get washer fluid exiting under car near back inner corner of drivers side wheel arch. I can only figure hose has become detached between engine bay and before traversing over drivers door?
Any ideas of what to do next (apart from never pulling the washer on...)?
Much apreciated,
Miles.
Sounds like the problem mark 2ââ,¬â,,¢s used to suffer from with pipe popping apart.
You need to take off some trim around where leak is and try to locate a joint,if you find it push back together and secure with a cable tie
Thanks Johnny - suspect a joint has 'popped off' too. However, I dont know exactly where the pipe runs, and loathed to start ripping the dash apart!
Anyone had something similar on the forum?
Best, Miles.
The trim to remove is the passenger ââ,¬Ëœkickplateââ,¬â,,¢; on the floor adjoining the carpet.
Youââ,¬â,,¢ll see at about in-line with the curve of the door plate where it bends up, it has a connection there that pops off regularly.
I used a cable tie and some silicone tape to hold it together and seal it also.
Hi Mark - I should clarify that this is a 2011 Mk3 Galaxy. The pipe runs from the engine bay on the drivers side and up over the driver towards the tailgate. I am just not sure where behind the dash and where I could possibly access!
In the Mk2 the pipe runs along the passenger footwell - and has many posts on bailing out sodden carpets - I have not seen much on Mk3 yet?
Best, Miles.
I'd see if you can get the rear nozzle (the one at the boot end) off and get any fluid through that way. Don't know the design, but its possible that if the washer jet is blocked, that the pressure is finding its way out of a joint on the pipe (given you say it doesn't happen straight way, suggests its seeping slowing from somewhere or taking time to get past a seal).
The pipe on most cars either runs through the headlining, after going up the A post or under the carpet - I think the older galaxies run down the uk passenger side of the car can't remember if the pipe on those goes up to the roof from the footwell or down to the carpet level, no idea on the mk3 though, would suspect its going upwards and behind the headlining due to it having to be at the top for the hinges anyway.
Ah;
The Mk.3ââ,¬â,,¢s had a connector similar to the Mk.2ââ,¬â,,¢s only on drivers side, behind A-Pillar. Itââ,¬â,,¢s about in line with the top of the accelerator pedal if I remember rightly.
You'd have thought in the 12 years the original VAG galaxy was built they wouldn't have repeated that mistake with a new design. Though something must have caused it to come off in the first place, could be as simple as no screenwash fluid allowing the washer to freeze.
