Does anyone know if there is technical reason not to extend the aux heater exhaust to the back of the car. I intend servicing/modifying while the weather is warmer, and would like to avoid fumes under the car.
My Touareg is a similar design, exiting under the car near the front door.
Only that the original tail pipe is a weak spot and they eventually break off from the little silencer so I would advise removing the exhaust from heater first before attaching any sort of extension which would also need to be well supported so not to put strain on the silencer/tailpipe.
Looks like time to get busy. Thanks for the advice Chris.
Apart from the above, if the pipe is longer it will take more time to heat up and burn off/solidify any carbon deposits. A high proportion of short journeys might cause it to block.
