Hi,
My 08 2.0 duratorq Galaxy's engine temperature moves around a lot. Initially I thought sticking thermostat, but then I started wondering about the sensor. It does manage fairly hot air, but not baking hot.
What is the best way of working out which is the problem?
Thanks, Geedle.
Has that got the 2 thermostats like older 2.0tdci?
Common for the oil cooler stat one to pack up.
Best to change main and oil stat for genuine ford ones if itââ,¬â,,¢s same set up.
I remember doing this job on a MK3 mondeo and it had two thermostats (it was almost always the oil cooler one that went and it was a pain to get at IIRC). This is what it says the thermostat looks like on the Galaxy:

A genuine one is going to be quite a bit I think, so I'd like to be sure it is the problem.
Is there also an oil cooler thermostat? Is there any way of checking if it is the sensor or thermostat?
Cheers, Geedle.
As you say the heaters are warm but not baking hot I would be inclined to think stat issue personally.
Start from cold and allow to warm up and see if hose from stat warms as the car does or if it remains cold until fully up to temp and then gets hot as stat opens.
On my xtype I changed oil cooler Stat but difference was only marginal so replaced main one also.

It doesn't look like there is a thermostat to change - or am I missing something?
Thanks for your help.
The oil cooler stat on mine is not mounted on the cooler,it fits in water pump and has the coolant pipe that goes to the cooler connected to it.
