Just want to share some funny behavour of my Galaxy MK2 2002 (1.9TDI).
For some time I was unable to switch off the engine when the gear would be in the reverse... Interesting, alarming, (???)? Also my rear window wiper was not working.
For the last reason I checked the cable loom from the body to the boot lid (right top corner), and found some trouble there. Some wires had snapped...
After soldering and re-insulating the wires the rear window wiper was working again and the funny behaviour of being unable to switch off the engine had disappeared. Don't ask me why, but it might help you to trouble shoot the same problem.
