Hi john
Welcome to the forum, first thing that springs to mind after a head off job is the timing when refitting the cam belt?
Are you sure it's timed correctly?
What led display are you referring to?
hi the timing is spot on the LCD display is the 2 1 either side by the rev and mph clocks i did think about the timing but have checked it 3 times as per the haynes manual
thanks for the quick reply
Were they deffo working before? Could be a connector not put back on which is causing the issue, IIRC the Mk1 has a couple of connectors in the engine bay which can cause full cluster loss and start/run issues.
yes defo working before. i will have a look to see if i missed anything, had it put on vag com and it could not find any of the control modulus could this mean that the ecu is dead.
Hi John
Am assuming you had the battery disconnected while working on head, have a look at the smaller wires on the battery terminals as they have a habit of breaking off.
