Hi john
Welcome to the forum, first thing that springs to mind after a head off job is the timing when refitting the cam belt?
Are you sure it's timed correctly?

What led display are you referring to?

Were they deffo working before? Could be a connector not put back on which is causing the issue, IIRC the Mk1 has a couple of connectors in the engine bay which can cause full cluster loss and start/run issues.

Hi John
Am assuming you had the battery disconnected while working on head, have a look at the smaller wires on the battery terminals as they have a habit of breaking off.
