Title: White smoke
Post by: 8879gw on December 01, 2017, 08:43:27 AM
Hi all i have a 2000 ford galaxy 1.9 115hp

When starting cold when i turn ignition on i can hear what i can only describe as air pushing through liquid. When i try and start it it is really rough rattling like mad for about 3 seconds then runs fine except it has white smoke coming out of the exhaust for about 5-8 seconds maybe

Any help would be massively appreciated 🙏🏼 Im going out of my mind

That noise will be the in tank pump operating.

As for the white smoke and rough running now itââ,¬â,,¢s cold could well be glow plug fault, you can get a meter on them to check resistance but you might aswell change them anyway if they have been in a while.

Hello! Have you check cooling water don't sink.

When it's white smoke it's water
blue smoke oil
black smoke to much fuel.

White smoke is also unburnt fuel like when glow plugs knackered, black smoke is over fuelling/lack of air from boost leak etc.

I had very similar and it was three of the 4 glow plugs that had gone south. Amazed it still started tbh!
