Are the wipers in the "up" position? AFAIK that's the only way it will slide out but to be honest you'll find it much easier to simply unbolt the wiper mech.

Wipers parked in up position
carrier catches  before it will free
cannot get wiper arms off
wd'd will have another try tomorrow

will undoing centre nut/bolt be enough?
thanks for reply

Hi Tony

It is a real back breaking job, I have done it with the wiper assembly in situ without moving arms straight up, it is tight but can be done.

Taking the wiper linkage off makes the job much easier + you can regrease the wiper spindles at the same time.

Some people seem to have big problems removing the arms.
I do it like this
After removing nut with the palm of you hand on the hinge push arm toward screen then pull back with the other hand, the push and pull motion will loosen the arm.

If you remove the nut from the motor then remove the link rod it must be refitted in exactly the same place otherwise they won't park correctly.

I undid left hand wiper bolt and managed to slide
filter out with difficulty
replacement went back fairly easily
once you knew what was what.

I found running car up on front ramps
made access much easier
no broken back!!
improvement in airflow is noticeable
better than paying dealer prices
thanks for help
