while i was driving my galaxy just cut out asif you turned the engine off then would not start until 20 mins later i wobbled a few wires and plugs but dont know if this cured it but it started asif the fuel had run out and refilled it. could this be the shut off valve or dirty filters? as it gave no warning!!

also how many fuel filters are there on 2001 tdi?

I'm not an expert - there are plenty of those around here who will be along soon - but I would start with a read of the following thread https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/reference-library/galaxy-mk1-mk2-tdi-version-relay-109 (https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/reference-library/galaxy-mk1-mk2-tdi-version-relay-109) and see if the symptoms match - I believe that the driver's door LED behaviour is worth noting.

May well be relay 109 and yes check what the door led is doing when not starting, there is only one fuel filter for the engine, that's the one to the right of the engine.
