Evening chaps
Not been posting for awhile which means generally no problems ;)
Anyway, some scumbag took my drivers mirror cleanly off (bar the wire) this afternoon so I need a new mirror >:(
Currently have a (taped up) electric heated mirror and was trying to remove but the wire and connector wouldn't go through the metal swivel bit. Can someone explain how to remove the door mirror please?
I'm sure someone said it was easy but I can't see how. I know there are two bolts inside the car to remove the mount but the electrical wire is still attached and goes down behind the door card (I guess removing the card is the second option)
Also, anything to look out for when getting a replacement (are all electric ones heated?)
If anyone can recommend where I can pick up a cheap (silver preferably) one I'd be interested.
Thanks

iirc there is a cover that comes off and then you can see the fixings.
Yeah my cover was knocked straight off and I undid all the fixings on the unit and unplugged the white plug that goes into the motor unit with three wires. However it wouldn't go through the actual swivel part of the mirror mount (the black bit) which snapped off (it's metal too).
I presume the other end is behind the door card somewhere and needs to be unplugged and pulled through.
Just wondering if anyone has changed one and can advise. Will try and ring a few scrappys tomorrow otherwise.
Hi Wacko
Yes you need to remove the door panel and peel back the waterproof seal to access the plug inside the door.
Thanks guys
If you spot a nice cheap one let me know :P
Hi guys
Got offered a couple today in all sorts of colours ranging from Ã,£25 - Ã,£45 from Breakers Yards.
One of them has two silver ones and want's Ã,£30 a pop which isn't too bad but they won't guarantee them and I'd be lumbered if they don't work.
My motor works fine so in theory could I swap the round motor thing over if there was a problem?
Also, another one has agreed the same price but said one of the plugs is missing - can you add a new plug easily enough?
Finally - Are these an easy job to replace for an idiot?
Cheers
