Title: Headlight adaptors 2011 Xenon headlights
Post by: JohnScott on December 13, 2012, 10:07:44 AM
I have a galaxy 2011 model titanium with xenon headlights. I need to drive in France on right hand side. Is it possible to adjust beam or buy a headlight adaptor/mask. My dealer can't provide answer. Halfords only sell adaptor for non xenon headlights if 2010 model onwards

Hi John, nearly all xenon headlights on all manufacturers come with a beam leaver inside. I see no reason why the Mk3 Galaxy would be any different so maybe take the headlight out and have a look for this as beam adaptors won't work at all well on a xenon car!!

 [W4] John

I have a 2012 MK3 with standard (halogen) lights and use super beam benders with no problem, they claim to fit any headlamp.
Just follow the instruction that matches as near as.
Clear glass lens.

Looks like I have found the answer. Phone Ford on 09065533447 this is a premium rate number. They will email you the headlight masking pattern for the specific headlight. You print the pattern out and then enlarge to correct size, cut out and then use as a pattern for using masking tape on the light itself.

Good luck with that, I don't think it's as easy as they suggest but let us know how you get on.

Hi, I've just come back from my dealer as they had to mask off a huge area of the lens. They charged me 25 squid for this:o If you want I have pictures of what they did and you may be able to copy on yours. I know this is a con as my wifes Skoda automatically changes when she selects Km on the dashboard readout. So much for the Galaxy being a flagship for ford. I'll be getting something else within 6 months, and it will not be a Ford. Regards Sadsam

Hey guys, my Galaxy is still in Germany as the masking carried out by the garage failed. There is no light at all on the right hand side and all the remaining light is to the left. I was stopped by the Police and now have a problem as they have impounded the car until I can get this sorted..... I email Ford UK but have not received a reply, so much for customer service. I'm back in the UK but my local garage who fitted the correct template as per Ford UK instructions are struggling to help. I have shown them pictures of the light pattern as taken by the police and it is fairly obvious that the template is wrong. But what to do now!?!? To say I'm pretty p***ed with Ford UK is putting it mild. Any ideas???

Hi
Done a bit of searching and found the link below if you haven't seen it already, scroll down to the HID Xenon type.

Just realised it's MK3 Mondeo so may be different but may be worth a look

do you have legal fees on your insurance?
i may well be tempted if you have to give them a ring and see what that have to say over this.even if its just a kick up the arse for fords.

You need to look inside the headlight for the beam adjustment tab - slide this and it will flatten the edge off the beam for LHD/European driving.  As before the adaptors just don't work on Xenon car's and the beam would have undoubtedly been causing glare for other users. Ford probably won't get back to you as they don't do masks for Xenon headlights and your user manual should tell you this - I would question exactly why they gave you the mask as it will almost certainly have been for Halogen headlamps!!!

Can you scan the light patten they gave you and upload it? It should be easy to tell if its the "lip" that they are worried about or not from that...

Hi, my ford galaxy zetec 61 plate got normal simple headlamps. I bought genuine xenon headlamps. I try to upgrade and connect, but xenon headlamps both not working. Maybe I need to do something? Or harness is different from simple headlamps? Can you help me, how to connect them, please.
Thanks

Harness needs to be changed, ecu needs to be recoded, levelling needs to be installed, headlamp wash needs to be installed.

Probably Ã,£300 to Ã,£500 in parts plus fitting costs and then ecu recoding costs
