Title: Brake upgrades!
Post by: KingyMAK on October 22, 2017, 06:57:40 PM
Has anyone upgraded their brakes on there cars?

I know the Sharan/Alhambraââ,¬â,,¢s use a lot of the Mk4 platform, so Iââ,¬â,,¢m wondering if the Mk4 Audi S3 would have a suitable set of brakes for upgrade, or would bigger pots be a better idea?

Iââ,¬â,,¢m just thinking about ââ,¬Ëœeasyââ,¬â,,¢ switching of calipers without having to machine new parts and such like.

Iââ,¬â,,¢ve seen transporters use a lot of sharan bits, but Iââ,¬â,,¢ve seen a few transporters use Sharan parts, too.

The V6 has the largest brakes and they are a direct fit to the front. The transporter has a set which is 1 better but you need 17" wheels minimum to fit them and the carriers need a slight modification. The S3 and the GTI both use inferior setups then the the V6 calliper!

The rears are more of a PITA as the rear subframe won't accept the carriers for the V6 setup.

Iââ,¬â,,¢m going to be running 18ââ,¬â,,¢s anyways!  :D

So front V6ââ,¬â,,¢s are the best idea, and to leave the rears you reckon?
