Car: 2013 Ford S-max 2.0 zetec tdci 140 powershift
Mileage: 17000 approx
Isuue: Hi All

I have just signed up and I am very optimistic in finding answers to my queries.  Thanking in advance.

I have recently bought 2013 ford s-max zetec 2.0 tdci powershift 140 from an auction.  I made a decision after having driven the same car but with manual transmission hoping the auto would be the same. However the car is extremely sluggish especially when setting from a dead stop. I hope someone who has the same car can suggest whether it's just my car or this is how the auto drives.

To add to my worries I have an engine malfunction light on the dash. Obd2 adaptor using forscan app shows errors. I have attached pictures of errors and graphs of throttle pedal sensors.

I have already replaced the throttle pedal in the hope that it would resolve the issue but it hasn't.
I have had great help from another forum but unfortunately this issue remains unresolved.

The car is a 2013 plate, from London and has 17000 miles on clock suggesting shorter journeys and low miles for the age.

I would be grateful if someone can help me resolve this issue please.

Welcome!

P2125 is the throttle sensor within the throttle body. You can calibrate it with the right tool but normally its a TB swap

Thanks for the welcome and response.  Do you suggest cleaning the throttle body or just replacing it. Used ones are not that expensive.  It is worth mentioning that when the car is started the first response from pedal is spot on and there is no delay,  any subsequent pedal use has sluggish output. Does it mean cleaning is required.

Very difficult to say without seeing. The car will be looking at the requested throttle vs the actual at the TB, if the two are out of whack then you'll get a discrepancy.

I've not taken a Ford one apart for some time but since the sensors are normally 'potted' to protect them then cleaning the TB will have little to no effect but hey, always worth a try!

Ok,  I will try a clean tomorrow and order the used throttle body.  I work away from home for full week so will update on next weekend how it went.  Thanks
