Hello all,
I have an interesting one. My rear fog lights don't work and boot wont open. The fog light indicator on the dash is on when I brake and/or when the head lights are on. Now, when I switch the fog lights on....the boot can be opened. I think it may be a relay but I have looked at the ones in the rear side panel but they appear to be fine.
Any ideas?
Dave
Hi David and welcome, 99% I know what your fault is but can you just confirm the car details first as for some reason they are missing (just hit Edit my profile" from the user links on the left).
All updated. What are your thoughts?
That's a weird one I am intrigued what mark thinks the fault is.
Sounds like wiring loom through the tailgate gaiter, bare wires touching.
Sorry missed the reply. Yes that's exactly my thoughts, all those circuits pass through the tailgate wiring and the most common red/yellow cable is the brake cable.
The loom connects behind the drivers D pillar and it normally breaks in two places (upper and lower) so watch out when repairing
And now the boot won't open at all. Looks like I have some digging to do.
Cheers
Dave
Does it open by key?
