I have a 2001 mk2 1.9 TDI , the car wouldn't start so had an auto electrician out to do a diagnostic on it , it would read everything except the main ECU , he siad it was toast.
I got a second hand ECU and PCM and radio transmitter and chip for key from another galaxy ( ECU numbers match) had it all fitted , immobiliser light on door no longer flashes and is on all of the time , pats code is coming up 23 (can't find out what this means !!)
Car turns over for 2 seconds then cuts out , had AA out and he said the immobiliser needs reprogramming, ford are too expensive so trying to avoid them, pulling my hair out now and feel like burning the thing lol !!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Can you be more specific on what exactly has been swapped over? Parts numbers would be beneficial or a link if you bought if from eBay

Humm, well PATS code 2-3 is an ECU mismatch with PATS controller.
How confident are you that whoever you paid to fit it actually swapped the PATS controller? Its tucked away on top of the crash bar and requires removal of the dashboard to access the security bolt and since there isn't any other way, its a good 3 to 4 hour job IF they've done one before. Add another hour if not as there is a bolt on the back of the firewall that needs to be removed which stumps most people. Personally, I suspect your installer hasn't swapped the controller given its location but if he has then the company you bought it from didn't supply a matched set.
I'm pretty confident he replaced it , he's a friend of mine who i trust , i did have to pop out when he got to that bit and i have messaged him and asked if he did to make sure before i message the person i got it from.
Got it going , swapped out the pats controller and started first time , now to the rest of the cars faults lol
So does that mean the replacement immobiliser module was not fitted initially (when the garage replaced the PCM) as it should have been?
