Title: Gearbox code compatiblity?
Post by: KingyMAK on February 16, 2017, 09:37:06 PM
I'd of assumed the ASZ engined Golf/etc would for, but I've read the ratios are different;

What about the 2.0 A3's with the FUX gearbox codes?

What are an actual list of compatible boxes?

(And does anyone have one for sale...?)

The Sharans et al are much heavier vehicles designed to carry more people and load than the Golf though so I suppose the gearing had to be adjusted accordingly to make best use of the torque from the engine.

Just found this (http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_205.pdf) (also attached below) interesting technical overview of the 6 speed manual.

As for gearbox codes, not sure if there is a decent listing with ratio info for various VAG transmissions, I had a look here (http://www.volkswagenforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=15758) and the post suggested that you can download transmission info from a link but clicking on the 'attachment' only seems to take you to a word document with another link within to download a table/ spreadsheet etc, which I don't have time to mess about with now.
