Hi guys my wife noticed today that the temperature needle on the car dropped to 60 degrees whilst driving, The car had been used for about 30 mins and was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue. I checked the coolant level and it was just under the minimum level when the car was not being used so could that be the problem or would it be something else like a thermostat, the heaters are quite warm when the engine is running and I can't see any obvious water leak and the coolant level was maximum about two years ago, any ideas. Cheers
Common-ish sign that the temperature sensor is on the way out, easy to change but there are a few versions so you need to check the connector colour before ordering one.
Could also be the stat opening too early, have a feel of the hose from stat housing to rad after it's been running and see if it is warm.
On a PD it is not likely to have a stat that has opened especially in winter unless it has been driven quite hard.
