mot fail holes in front outriggers
is it just a case of seam welding plates over the top
thanks
Mine has had offside done in the past and as far as I can see the rot was cut out and new piece welded in. I wouldn't weld over the top as the rot will only spread.
sadly quite common; don't just plate over the holes;
instead as suggested use angle grinder to cut away the tinfoil/rust and make repair plates up from a sheet of steel........my drivers side was 10" x 10" folded into a u-shape. tacked into place and seamed all around then plastered in seam sealer and finally spray underseal.
thanks for the replies will get it sorted now
I had mine done about 4 years ago - it failed this year so I had it cut out and welded again. Passed.
had mine cleaned up and plates welded the full length to save any future grief for a while under sealed after wards passed teh mot but got an advisory about the underseal
not looking to sell but not bothered about that because i know it was done right
What was the advisory about underseal.
just stated they could not examine the repair due to underseal
just covering their arse i suppose
could be a problem if i wanted to sell i expect
What a load of rubbish that is,they could have had a tap around with MOT hammer and found it is solid metal underneath.
as you said m8..covering their arses.. when time to sale comes up just explain the work that been done.. on my other car ,6 years ago they put wrong millage and i havnt seen that till the next mot..cant be changed ...
