Title: gearbox grinding issues
Post by: Daniel Davies on December 04, 2016, 11:40:26 PM
I have a pd115 engine and fux gear box.

firstly i had a dead dual mass so swapped it out for a new one, 5k miles later iv had some really bad clacking on and off of the pedal so firstly replaced the intermediate shaft in the gear box and had new drive shaft checked gearbox mount ect still the same so not wanting the issue again after fitting a new duel mass i went ahead and fitted a solid flywheel pulls great no issues however the problem was still the same clacking when on and off the accelerator and when pulling off.

last 2-3 weeks on mid range revs we have now gain a really bad grinding from the box full throttles and low cruising it goes away.  Have checked the oil ect fine with no bits of metal.

basically long shot but what i need to ask would a mk1 pd pump engine gearbox fit into the car or would i need the pump engine also reason being i have easy access to a free box i no is good.

my car is the Alhambra 6 speed and the box is out of a mk1 pd galaxy 1.9 100bhp i believe

Thanks in advance

At a guess I would say even if it fits the ratio will probably be different from a 100hp, is a mark 1 100hp 6 speed or 5 speed?

Have you checked gearbox mount. I got a clunking sound when it was bad. Aldo check if bearing at end of gearbox shaft in still intact on passanger side
