Post by: blogan on November 12, 2016, 11:10:30 AM

Is it inside or outside the car?

Have you tried driving with glovebox out and the side panel off dash to see if it goes? (Assuming inside car) my side panels, glovebox and fuse panel cover rattled had to put some foam strip on to stop it.

Another one I had was a washer was stuck under the scuttle trim and rattling on windscreen, sounded like the dash and drive me crazy until I found it.

it sounds like its inside ,ive just taken the upper glove boxes out , how do i remove the lower one ? as it seems like a swine to remove
and do you mean the panel at the side end of the dash ?
so just removed the lower glovey ,and end of dash panel , gonna take it out to see if the rattle is still present

The glovebox has got some screws inside and a few underneath by where your shins would be. Then a couple of plugs to undo once you pull it forward.
You need to unclip the small panel by left hand arm and pull the spring loaded flap off inside glovebox at the top.

Yes the end panels on dash and also the top small sections by small window.

The passenger glovebox on mine is retained at the bottom by a couple of metal pivot pins which lock into some clips in the dash- beware, the pins are prone to breaking the surrounding plastic lugs where they are fixed into the glovebox itself, when I bought my Galaxy the glovebox was busted and I had to renew it! It's not that clear but the below image shows one of the pins circled yellow, the left hand broken lug where the pin should have been is just visible on the extreme lower left of the picture. Somebody had previously tried to repair it- unsuccessfully!

Is that to just remove the lid?
When I had dash out I just undone the screws and pulled the lot out I don't remember seeing the pins and lugs like on yours?

It's feasible that they changed the design on the later models such as mine but I've just removed and refitted the glove box and upper cover flap (which is always a bit of a fiddle I find) without the need for any screwdriver at all!

You deffo dont need a screwdriver to remove the passenger lower glovebox:

Open the box
Remove the left clip in piece
Push down on right stay whilst opening further
Sharply tug the box away from the bottom (where those pins clamp it)

So with mine it's been a while but is it possible I had to remove it complete as I was having dash out to replace the heater matrix and blend flap motor?

I definitely removed screws as I remember storing hundreds of clips and screws in glovebox while dash was in bits.

Are we deffinately talking about the same box? The passenger LOWER box? The two upper dashmount ones are screwed in.

To remove the lower box whole would require taking the dash panel that it sits in out (which you would have had to do to get to the matrix) but that means taking out the radio surround and climate panel. Popping off the long trim strip and then removing about 16 screws.

Yes the passenger lower main glove box,I have had it out since dash removal as well when I fitted 6 disk changer in top box. I didn't take any other dash parts off to get it out. Unless I am getting it totally mixed up with another car I have played about with them my set up sounds different to yours?

Got a few jobs to do on it tomorrow will take some pictures.

The main fusebox cover trim by the driver's knee has to be unscrewed in order to remove it, not thinking of that are you?

mine had the same annoying rattle in passenger side, I was constantly tapping the dash to see if I could pinpoint to no avail, but found it by mistake, the plastic trim on the windscreen scuttle was vibrating in the wind of car moving, tbh I think the leaf I pushed in there to stop is still wedged there and no rattle since, may be a coincidence but certainly worth looking at
