Post by: Tony5496 on November 05, 2016, 08:56:25 PM
Hi could someone shed some light on this for me the temperature gauge is always at half way.  But have noticed in the last week since the weather is cold it is wandering down to quarter when driving slow around town and then wandering back up to halfway On a run or sometimes just going up and down from quarter to half and back is this normal many thanks

Thermostat failed so not maintaining optimum temperature, does putting heater fan on produce warm not hot air and cause the needle to drop?

Yes thanks for your reply yes the heater has never been very hot only warm I would have to check tomorrow and see when the fan is on if it drops the temperature needle.

Sounds like thermostat then, once up to temp it shouldn't drop like you explain and heater shouldn't be poor. The stat is probably stuck open so does not close off cooling system in event of drop in operating temp.

Yes it definitely pays around more if I put the fan on I can't even find where it is located

Defo stat problem then it's a fairly common issue on the 2.0tdci engines
