Hi ,please help , galaxy mk1 1.9 tdi.......start and runs fine ,steering, brakes fine ... pulled away from traffic lights ,fractional uphill , car clunked and them seemed to have slight power/drive drain .
engine /gearbox added vibration in lower gears , less in higher gears .........
On turning off engine car judders briefly before stopping ?
Any ideas please ?
Dual mass flywheel failed or could it be the driveshaft on offside? Not sure if mark 1 suffered same as the mark 2 does?
Do not think it's dmf , no unusual noise when starting or engaging or changing gear .
Only seams to affect when pulling away in l0w gears and the judder when turning off engine !
Is it lack of drive or engine running issue causing it to judder and have no power?
It seems rather noisy and vibrates a bit when pulling away then seams fine once your in 3rd,4th , 5th .
Then when you stop and turn off the engine the car body judders momentarily
As I say, starts normal , engaging gears normal ?
Torque seems normal !
Hard to diagnose really but if the dmf is good and it's more engine running problem than drive issue I would suspect it is a misfire then?
Rear roll restrictor bolt snapped, fairly common and consistent with those symptoms.
I thought straight away engine mount or roll restrictor, vibration in low gears because this is when most torque. So roll restrictor bolt snapped sounds very probable.
Yup highly probable. The rear restrictor either shears the centre bolt or the mount rubber pulls through. Both equally common but the former causes the more noticeable shuddering.
Thanks, I will check first thing tomorrow
Engine mount bolt sheared. Sorted
Glad it's all sorted and a fairly easy fix at that.
