I went out to the car the other day and noticed that the rear Ford oval had become just a piece of black plastic ::) - I'm used to seeing them as just the aluminium backing once the clear plastic top part (with the blue part of the oval and lettering) separates and falls off but I've not seen this before.... The black plastic backing also has Ford written on it in a manner that I wouldn't exactly call factory, like it's been done as a joke but it's almost like somebody's used a hot knife tip to melt the plastic...... very odd! ???

Anyway, new badge needed (I dislike leaving these kind of 'defects' with my car!)- Ford part number 1108560 (at least for the rear one), of course the majority of the adhesive foam that fixes the badge to the tailgate stayed stuck to the bootlid and didn't come off with the old backing so I then had to use solvent (autoglym tar remover in this case as it's not too aggressive to paintwork) and a lot of elbow grease to shift the old adhesive foam, as you can see below there's a recess for the oval to sit in in the bootlid (and curiously a rubber plug sealing a hole in the tailgate itself which is normally hidden by the badge), though unfortunately no locating lugs to aid fitting the new badge squarely which I'd hoped there would be:

The new badge, simply sticks on to the tailgate with adhesive foam on the backing, no locating lugs:

dunno if there still doing it,but fords were replacing badges F.O.C might be worth a phone call.
I did see that memo a while ago but I think the caveat was that it was a 'goodwill gesture' offered by a dealer for a vehicle that you had a service history with them for, so at the dealers' discretion I suppose. As I've done all my own servicing the only work I've paid my local dealer (where I used to work I would add) for is for key programming and MOT's! Oh, and an air-con degas that didn't actually degas the system..... ::)
No, it was (maybe still is) a goodwill gesture by Ford - so that their cars weren't driving around with flaking rear badges and embarrassing the company. I just went to the nearest one and was handed an FOC badge and an offer to fit without question.
No such luck when the wheel centres started to go......
