Post by: Hej-Hej on October 07, 2016, 12:15:43 PM
Hi, is it possible to upgrade the booster heater to a timed parking heater? What will it take to do that?

Not 100% sure but think I have seen a kit to convert boost heater to a timed one? Wasn't for Galaxy/sharan specifically think it was Mercedes but it was still eberspacher so its doable

I think possibly Chris has carried out this upgrade? If so he may be able to advise.

Yup, thats exactly what you need. Fitted mine about 6 years ago and its been great. The only thing to note is that the factory kit uses a split charger and 2nd battery and this kit just runs off the primary battery. It preheats for 30mins so you are asking that battery to operate the aux beater, dosing pump, coolent pump and cabin fan which is a fair load so make sure you have the largest battery you can fit in the tra and its in good condition. I've yet to flatten mine but its something to be aware off.

Took about 2 hours from what I recall, no problems at all although I have taken many a Galaxy apart so knew how it all came apart ;)

My kit was actually for a Mercedes sprinter some some of the wiring needed lengthening and I had to supply two change over relays apart from that no problems.
As Mark said get the biggest battery to fit, I have an 017TE 100 amp.
P.S also be advised the instructions will probably be in German.

Doesnt sound to be that much of trouble to install :) altough i might take at bit longer than 2 hours, as it will be the first time i have to take it apart :)
And for the instructions i might ask google translate for help and hope for the best if no pictures.. :D
