Title: Sharan cluster part number
Post by: Hej-Hej on September 26, 2016, 05:48:37 PM
Hi there.. i would like to swap the current cluster in my Gal for a Sharan one, so im trying to find a VW part number for a suitable cluster.

Since i live in denmark i want KMH and also id like the full fis/mfa display (only got half fis by now).. my gal is a 115 TDI manual 6 speed and what i found is that the vw part number for said sharan cluster will be something like "7M3 920 840 N", But got a few questions:

Am i right that 800=no mfa, 820=half fis/mfa and 840=full fis/mfa ?

Will the last letter maybe say something about diesel/petrol ?

Most clusters i found will read 260 kmh but my current only reads 220 kmh, will this be a straight swap?

Will the difference in speed signal between auto/manual be all eeprom coded or a "hardware" difference?

What about the VW immo system thats built in to the cluster, not like the ford pats system.. will this give me trouble?

Got both VCDS and VAGtacho and not scared by a little experimenting :D

Could seem like 800-820-840 as three last digits are kmh and 900-920-940 for miles ??

This (https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy/key-questions/msg7412/#msg7412) post should give you some guidance regarding the different immobiliser systems. Mirez will be the one to advise you here as he has swapped the Ford cluster for a Sharan one. Usually the tacho will be different between a petrol and diesel model with different rev. ceilings so that's a physical difference which you couldn't correct with software, therefore you'd need a cluster from a diesel Sharan.

Ok, seems that immo in VW cluster wont give me any trouble, lovely ;)
And yes, of course it must be from a diesel for the rev counter to match.
Btw i think i found that 7M3 will be Sharan, 7M5 Galaxy and 7M7 Alhambra..
Would like to know if the 920 in the middle of the part number tells something? And same thing for the very last letter in part number

An interesting bit of info regarding VW part number breakdowns here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/VW-AUDI-SKODA-SEAT-PART-NUMBERS-EXPLAINED-/10000000012971486/g.html).

That is interesting ;) so the middle 920 wiil be 9 for group 9 - electrics, and then 20 will be the sub category for the cluster..

Will there be anything else i need to match for the new cluster to work properly?
