Link below shows a 1.9TDI water pump removed from my car after a sudden rise in engine temperature and minimal loss of coolant.

Those plastic impellers are pretty junk ain't they?
Hi John
Yes they are, although it's now done 150.000mls its the first one it's had and yes it should have been done 10.000 ago when belt was done so it's been tempting fate I suppose.
Done some decent mileage then,at least all sorted and no lasting damage to engine as a result.
My Daughter uses the car now daily on Hermes parcel delivery's so it's doing a lot of stop start none motorway work, next thing will be the turbo vanes sticking ::) deep joy :)
Oh yes sticky vanes and clogged EGR on the cards, should tell her to give it a good boot full now again.
Or just block the EGR 8-)

That's why my tyres don't last very long! Which one is the lesser of the evils?! [bash]
Tyres are easier to get sorted as someone else does the job. EGR and vanes would be your Saturday afternoon job.
Just a shame someone else don't pay for the new boots though!
