Tonight I jumped into the car, set my keys down in the central console, placed my foot on the brake, pressed the start button and:
all internal lights flashed / a clicking sound coming from the dash / the display read 'Power Steering Failure' (I cannot turn the steering wheel at all) as I released the button the dash lit up and said, 'to start car press brake' - I pressed brake but nothing happened. As I opened the door to get out the buzzer sounded and the dash read something like 'vehicle started - press stop'. The engine was not running at all. I pressed the start/stop button and everything went dark. I got out and I locked the car. It will not start.
Help!
What you describe could be down to a number of things from an electrical fault to a discharged battery. Before going in too deep I would check that the battery isn't discharged or defective.
As above sounds very much like a battery or connection issue to me.
Check battery voltage and condition of cables from battery to alternator, starter and body earth.
Many thanks - I'll check them first chance (tomorrow).
