Title: 12v cigar lighter fuse, under glovebox fuse location-which one???H
Post by: gamernxtgen2012 on August 29, 2016, 10:57:31 AM
Hi, need some assistance please, I attach a picture of my fusebox type ford 7g9t type. of course there is no diagram on the plastic lid, because there is no lid, and the manual with the car shows a different style fuse box-of course, I've tried google images, can only find the fusebox and no diagram or key, so can one of you please tell me which one of these culprits is responsible in the picture for me not being able to use my satnav, in the galaxy, pulled a few 20 amp ones out, but none of them look blown. ideally just say 4th one down from top left side, or similar so it's clear for me, the fuse blew months ago, and I've wasted hours on google getting nowhere-so I really do appreciate the time you take-if you could help me out please.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to respond, I did find that same picture on this forum-as it looks nothing like the picture I have, I discounted it as another type besides that the ford handbook I have I think also stated fuse no;7 was the cigar lighter, however which one is no;7 when there is no key/chart/diagram nor any numbers alongside the fuse board, and as I said before the layout in the handbook isn't the type of fusebox I have.

I really could do with someone on the forum that knows the type of fusebox on the photo, that I have supplied (no offence by any means ! so please don't take it as offensive) there is hardly any higher rated fuses in that fusebox only a couple that are of 20-25 amp, and I've checked them-no cracks etc in the wire.

Thats the GEM module, not the fusebox! The fuses on that are for more comfort systems such as lighting, SatNav and heated seats etc.

The fusebox you want is in the engine compartment and depending which outlet you have blown, you'll want to check fuses 5,10,16 or 17 (All 20 amp)

thanks, for responding-top bloke. now fuse 5 engine compartment, 60amp yellow cooling fan
fuse 10 10 amp red engine control module.
fuse 16 80 clear diesel aux heater.
fuse 17 60 amp yellow central fuse box supply A.

none of the ones in the engine compartment main fuse box seem to be for it-even added a picture of box cover, even then the one you said it isn't, ie under glovebox is actually marked in book, as f19 15 amp blue cigar lighter, have 3 books for car, and it's listed in 3rd book, anyhow checked the 20 amp that's in that slot, it not burnt/broken filament wire etc, but changed it anyway-still no joy. there is another socket in the boot, and plugging sat nav in there charges it up on screen, so that one works-may just have to bite the bullet and get a longer lead and run it to the drivers area, as normal lead not long enough.
the front 12v socket definitely doesn't work, so maybe it's just a short or dead lighter socket. due to file sizes too large to post on forum ie, pictures, i'll just post the one, and see if that's o.k

Have you popped socket out and checked for power at wiring with a fluke?
Sounds like fuses are ok so must be something also at fault.

Hi, again.
I think your right, waste of time with the fuses-i think i'll try your suggestion of removing the socket itself and test the wires with a circuit tester. i'll have a go tomorrow as it's not possible now.
will let you guys on the forum know the result, as it may help others in the future.
