Title: VW Sharan Sport (1.9 tdi 2004)
Post by: RayM on August 29, 2016, 01:18:10 AM
Hello all,

I have a query in regards to the rear coil spings on my Sharan, are the rear coil spring different between the sport version and a non sport version?

One of the coils needs replacing but I want to make sure before buying the parts only to find out i've got the wrong ones (I couldn't see a difference on eurocarparts)

Cheers,
Ray

hi... i have sharan sport couple of weeks ago one rear spring snapped, i replaced it with an old one from my previous sharan mk1 non sport,it fits no problem,i countered wee problem as the replaced one is shorter than the other side,,, that after fitting... i replaced the other side as well, as i had 2 rear spring from the same mk1..there is slite difference in thickness between the mk1 spring and mk2... i hope that will help.

Yup there are about 5 different versions available. The old spring will have a couple of coloured bars on it which determine the type, thickness and height. You should match them to ensure even ride height. Personally though I would replace both as a pair since older springs loose stiffness and you'll only introduce uneven tyre wear (and crap handling) if they are at different levels.
